The proposed Western Sydney Corridors have been released, in particular, the Outer Sydney Orbital (M9) and the North South Rail Line and North South Rail Line Tunnel.

Community consultation will now take place to give landowners, community and stakeholders the opportunity to give feedback which will be used to help refine the recommended corridor.

The NSW Government is planning for the long term transport needs of Western Sydney by identifying and protecting corridors of land that can be used to deliver transport infrastructure in the future when needed. The NSW Long Term Transport Master Plan, Greater Sydney Region Plan, District Plans and Future Transport 2056 will guide how the delivery of transport services, infrastructure and technology in NSW over the next 40 years.

The Outer Sydney Orbital corridor will provide for future motorway and freight rail connection between Box Hill in the north and the Hume Motorway near Menangle. Property acquisition generally occurs just before the construction of infrastructure and this may be many years or decades away.

The recommended corridor was chosen after Transport for NSW consulted with community members and groups, councils, representative bodies, businesses and residents. Over 1200 comments and submissions were received over a 10 week consultation period.
